here is a quick and easy tip for everyone with a new flos product, the new touch dimmer, Every now and again the bulb will pop, this will cause the fuse in the dimmer to go also, this is a protective responce to protect the circuit board inside the dimmer.

its a 2 min job and here is how to do it.

unplug the light , open the back of the dimmer with a small flat headed screw driver.

when you have done that, you will see the fuse. its a 160ma, you can get these from maplins 10 for a pound !

swap them over and your done! simple

Now use for Fantastic Flos light for everyone to see !!

Now obviously floating beds don’t actually ‘float’ in mid air, as this would defy the laws of physics. What you can find are beds that have been designed in such a way as that they appear to float.

Three such examples are available from Scossa:

The Lago Air Bed rests upon four slabs of transparent crystal, giving the impression that the bed is floating. It is an impressive design from Daniele Lago who has added the functionality that the bed height can be adjusted.

The Pianca Filo is secured to the floor by a non visible meth-acrylate basement, but much like the Lago Air Bed gives the impression that it is floating in mid-air.

The Pianca Filo XL is the super-sized equivalent of the Pianca Filo. In the XL version the headboard can protrude on each side creating a side table that can be used as a nightstand.

Of course if you did want an actual bona fide floating bed then you could always contact Janjaap Ruijssenaars – a Dutch architect who uses magnetic force to permanently suspend his bed in mid air (pictured below). Unfortunately this is likely to set you back somewhere in the region of EU€1,250,000… and it still requires the use of cables to keep it balanced.

To everyone who owns a Kartell bourgie lamp, We at Scossa have  received loads of phone calls and e-mails on this subject from people who have bought bourgie lamps from other kartell dealers and left out this simple bit of information.

You may find you bourgie is not working any more after a bulb had blown or a power flux, you may think the dimmer is broken or the lamp, this 99% of the time is incorrect

The bourgie dimmer will blow the internal fuse to protect the  internal circuit.

So all you have to do is open up the roller dimmer and you will see a small glass fuse, take this out and replace it with a

• 250 volt
• din 41662
• iec 127-2/111 time lag  800mA

Please remember to unplug the light first!!
