Hottest Design Trends 2017

Scossa have talked to trade professionals and listened to our customers to find the hottest interior design trends for 2017. Interior design styles change often but always have practicality and function in mind. With the modern age, many homes feature clean, open spaces, accompanied by striking furniture and functional contemporary pieces to create a visually appealing space to live in.

Re-design your interior with the latest furniture trends

Personalisation

The biggest trend at the moment is personalisation. Everyone wants their home to reflect their individual style and not simply a place where they perform a function. Designers and manufacturers have recognised this for some time and offer furniture in an array of sizes, colours and finishes. This choice means creating a space that feels highly personal is achievable for anybody by adding customisable contemporary furniture and bespoke lighting

Open Plan Living

Although open plan living has been popular for a while now this trend for functional practical living looks set to stay. It helps bring the family together in an era where we are spending time in our own digital worlds! Open plan living is a hub for eating, working and relaxing and if the space is large enough you can zone the areas for dining and lounging with different pieces of furniture and carpets to break the space up. You can also create stylish divides with some clever shelving and storage units without breaking up the flow of the open space.

Rich Colours

Luxurious materials like metals, marble and velvet are going to be huge trends this year adding texture, warmth and a welcoming feeling to homes. Upholstered headboards, dining tables with marble tops and matching sideboards are particularly popular. Sofas with simple lines in rich velvets look amazing but if this is too strong a statement a few velvet scattered cushions can complete the look.

Green and deep blue colours are in the spotlight and we love it! The rich colours look luxurious on contemporary furniture and all the brand’s and designers were eager to show off their new styles at the trade furniture show.

Traditional Meets Modern

A stronger mix of traditional and modern is a big trend this year, incorporating vintage pieces into modern design has been an interior design style in its own right for the past few years. People are getting more design savvy and feeling brave about mixing styles more. An antique table with Louis Ghost chairs still looks timeless while a sleek glass and metal console table can look superb with a Victorian tufted chair.
