Kartell has been a huge name within the interior design world for over 70 years. Founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, Kartell began to show it was here to stay with its distinctive design loved by many.

In 1988, the company was taken over by Claudio Luti, the son-in-law of Giulio and Anna Castelli who had a background in fashion under the Versace fashion house. With his tasteful eye for design, he began a new start for the brand.

The Growth of the Kartell Brand

Luti began to collaborate with designers and architects who were responsible for producing the products that soon came to symbolise the brand.

After years of research and a revolutionary innovation, Kartell became the first company in the world to use polycarbonate to produce furnishing items in 1999.  They created La Marie, a completely transparent chair with modern, minimalist design which paved the way for Louis Ghost, still one of Kartell’s best sellers today.

In today’s world, Kartell continues to move with the times and evolve with its long tradition of creating unique, quality pieces which are multifunctional and of the highest quality.
